Who we are

TriForward (https://triforward.com) is a triathlon media publication. This policy explains what information we collect from visitors to this website, why, and what choices you have. It should be read alongside our Cookie Policy, which covers the cookies and similar technologies we use in more detail.

Information we collect

We do not currently ask visitors to create an account, sign up, or submit a form, so we do not collect names, email addresses, or other directly identifying information through normal browsing. The information we do collect comes from Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and standard web server logs:

• Pages and content viewed, referral source, approximate device and browser type, and approximate location at country/city level (derived from IP address — GA4 does not store your full IP address).
• A randomly generated, pseudonymous identifier stored in your browser so GA4 can distinguish repeat visits from new ones (see the Cookie Policy for the specific cookies involved).
• A small number of content-engagement events we define ourselves — for example, that a guide or Short page was viewed, or that a particular link was clicked — used only in aggregate to understand which content is useful.
• Standard hosting logs kept by our infrastructure providers (e.g. request timestamps and IP address) for security and reliability purposes.

We do not use this data for advertising, we do not build cross-site advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information.

Why we process this information

For the cookies GA4 sets, we rely on the UK's regulatory exception for cookies used strictly for first-party statistical purposes to understand and improve a website — which lets us set these cookies without asking for your consent first, provided we give you clear information (this page and the Cookie Policy) and a simple, free way to object (see "Your choices" below). For the resulting analytics processing itself, our lawful basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interests: understanding how the site is used so we can improve it, weighed against your privacy interests — which we consider are protected by the data being pseudonymous, used only in aggregate, never used for advertising, and by the free opt-out we provide.

We do not rely on this exception for anything beyond first-party statistical measurement. If we ever add advertising, marketing, or other non-essential tracking technologies, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy and the Cookie Policy accordingly.

Who we share information with

We use the following service providers, who process data on our behalf:

• Google LLC — provides Google Analytics 4. Data may be processed outside the UK; Google provides contractual safeguards for these transfers.
• Vercel Inc. — hosts this website and generates standard server logs.
• Sanity.io — stores and manages the editorial content published on this site (not visitor personal data).

We do not otherwise share, rent, or sell visitor information to third parties.

How long we keep information

GA4 data is retained according to the retention period configured on our GA4 property, after which it is automatically deleted or aggregated. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and reliability, then deleted.

Your choices

You can opt out of analytics at any time, free of charge and without affecting your ability to use the site, from the Cookie Policy page. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, or use Google's own Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask us what information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to our processing, and to receive a copy in a portable format, where those rights apply. Because we hold very little directly identifying information, some requests may be limited to what our analytics provider can identify from a pseudonymous identifier. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe we have not handled your information properly.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our use of data changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
